We didn't build another rear storage box.

We reimagined the back of the van.

BUILD YOUR OutBack™ REAR DOOR System

It all starts
OutBack

It all starts OutBack

There it is — the back of your van.
By now, you’ve looked at it a hundred times and probably thought, there has to be more.
Well, so did we.
Not another half-baked accessory. Not another compromise.
A better way to build on what’s already there.
That’s where OutBack™ starts.

No shortcuts. No copycats. Just real Van Compass engineering — built for your van and the way you actually use it.

Nine parts. One system.

The Big Box

1

PackOut Ready
Built around Milwaukee® PackOut, so the gear system you already use fits right in.

2

Adjustable Shelving
It's your box — it should fit your lifestyle. Reconfigure the shelves to make room for your next adeventure.

3

Ambidextrous Main Access Door
Left door. Right door. Two boxes butterfly-style. Configure it around your van.

4

Access from any Angle
Side doors mean less digging, unloading, and rearranging just to reach what you need.

5

DryBox Drain + Vent™ floor
Open the vented floor, let wet gear drain, then hose the whole thing out when the trip is over.

The Big Box

Pack in. PackOut.

Most storage boxes give you a shelf.

We gave you a system.

The Big Box is built around Milwaukee® PackOut, with adjustable shelving and mounting points that let you organize the space around your gear—not the other way around. Tools today. Camp gear tomorrow. Recovery equipment when things get interesting.

Pack it. Move it. Change it. Make it yours.

DryBox Drain + Vent

Waders. Boots. Recovery straps. Wetsuits. The stuff you want with you — just not inside the van.

That’s why we built DryBox Drain + Vent™ into the bottom of the Big Box.

Open the vent, let moisture escape, and give water somewhere to go. When the trip’s over, hose it out

and move on.

Dirty gear in. Water out. Pretty awesome, huh?

The Lil Box

The Little Box

1

3.5 Cubic Feet of Storage
Small footprint. Real storage. Enough room for the gear you want outside without taking over the whole door.

2

Access from Three Sides
Front and side doors keep gear easy to reach without digging through the whole box.

3

DryBox Drain + Vent™ floor
Same vented, drainable floor as the Big Box—because wet gear doesn’t care how big the box is

EXPLORE The Little BOX

Access made easy.

Open it from the front. Open it from the sides.

No digging. No unloading half the box to get to what’s buried in the back.

Drop the front door and use it as a sturdy work surface, prep table, coffee bar — whatever the moment calls for.

Easy in. Easy out. Easy to use.

Attention to Detail

We start with a flat sheet of 1/8-inch aluminum.

From there, we laser-cut, precision-form, TIG-weld, gasket, and powder-coat it —all with the kind of detail that matters once it’s living on the back of your van.

Clean seams. Tight fitment. Solid hardware. Weather protection where it counts.

Engineered by Van Compass.

Built start-to-finish in North Idaho.

Hidden in Plain Sight

Every OutBack component rides on these. We minimized the mounting structure to maximize the storage — precision-cut from 1/4" aluminum with four mounting points per factory door, spreading the load across the door structure instead of stressing a single point. Frame-less by design: no bulky cage, no wasted weight, just the smallest footprint that can carry the most.

Grid Utility Panel

A slotted aluminum utility panel that bolts to the Frame-Less Door Carrier Brackets and forms the mounting layer for the Big Box, Lil' Box, and Wheel Mount. Cut to the geometry of each factory door, driver and passenger, and slotted throughout so you can build creatively around it — traction boards, tools, hardware, whatever your rig needs to carry.

Fits Sprinter and Transit door geometry — driver and passenger versions / Primary mounting layer for every OutBack storage component / 1/8" powder-coated aluminum, built start to finish in North Idaho.

Wheel Mount

Full-size spares don't belong buried under the chassis or eating your interior build. The Wheel Mount carries van-spec wheel and tire weight directly on the door, with the load routed through the Frame-Less Door Carrier Brackets and spread across four factory mounting points — right where you can get to it when it matters.

Add the Heavy-Duty Wheel Mount

Hidden in Plain Sight

A system this capable shouldn’t be weighed down by a giant frame wrapped around the back of your van.

Four solid mounting points spread the load across the door structure while keeping the foundation low-profile and out of the way.

Even the factory door handle stays usable.

Strong where it matters. Nearly invisible everywhere else.

Wheel & Tire Mount

A Better Way to Carry a Spare

Most spare carriers clamp the wheel onto a threaded post. We looked at how the wheel already mounts to your van—and stuck with what works: lug studs through the wheel’s mounting flange.

Simple. Solid. Reliable.

Your spare stays secure, easy to reach, and out from under the van.
